How did you choose CSU for your university studies?

I knew about CSU before coming to Australia. Through my research, I discovered that CSU presented the best option for me.

I studied an Advanced Diploma in Accounting before studying at CSU. I wanted a university which was affordable. Also, my friends recommended CSU because of its focus on student interaction, which is quite important for me. I didn’t like the idea of large university settings and love the fact the teachers know us by name.

Which did you choose first: The city or the university?

I chose Australia first because my sister is studying here, followed by my desire to study accounting and then choosing the college and university which suited my study needs. It was stressful looking for a good university; reasonable fees; the location. I found CSU featured in the Good Universities Guide. I then made a direct enquiry from the CSU Study Centre website and heard from the Student Enrolment Advisor within 24 hours. It was fantastic.

How far away do you live from the university?

The distance and travelling time is really good, it takes me 30 minutes on an express train. The living expenses were difficult in the beginning but, now I am able to gain greater flexibility to work and study. I have a really good arrangement.

Do you have a job?

I work part-time in a supermarket over in North Sydney. The supermarket is on the same train line as my home train line and university which is really convenient. When I’m studying, I work 20 hours per week and when my timetable changes, work is flexible in rearranging my shifts according to my uni timetable. On my holidays I can work more hours. It’s a good arrangement.

Since I’ve come to Australia I have been working and I really like it. The work culture has a good atmosphere.

Have you told you parents about the award?

I have told my parents and they were really excited about it. They took a lot of interest in how my studies were progressing and it was really rewarding for them to know that I was doing really well.

As a whole, has CSU been a good choice for your study? Why?

CSU has been an enjoyable experience. At the beginning I took a couple of writing skill sessions at the university, which helped with my English skills and academic development. This helped with my confidence, especially with report and essay writing.

When my friends ask me about the university the first thing they ask me is how are the timetables structured and how many days you’re at uni. I think CSU has a really good timetable arrangement. CSU understands and constructs the timetable that enables us to have a well balanced study/work/life.

Is there anything that was different to what you expected?

Overall I’m really happy. I know a lot of my old college friends are coming and transferring to this university. So that’s good to see and then I can study with my old friend.
