Du học sinh CSU Study Centre Melbourne chinh phục đỉnh Buller

Giữa tháng 8, mùa đông nước Úc, các du học sinh cùng giảng viên trung tâm học tập Đại học Charles Sturt tại Melbourne đã có một hành trình tuyết trắng đầy thú vị.

Khởi hành từ sáng sớm, trời rất lạnh nhưng không khí trên xe bus đã được hâm nóng bởi những nụ cười "hết cỡ" và sự háo hức của các sinh viên lẫn giáo viên. Đến giữa buổi sáng, các sinh viên lại càng hào hứng khi được mời bánh ngọt, nước trái cây – phần quà đặc biệt từ các giáo viên và nhân viên trường đi cùng.

Tại điểm dừng chân đầu tiên ở resort Alzburg (Mansfield), mọi người nhanh chóng trang bị quần áo chống lạnh và các dụng cụ trượt tuyết để tiếp tục chinh phục đỉnh núi. Chưa bao lâu sau, những cụm tuyết đầu tiên đã xuất hiện trước mắt đoàn du học sinh CSU. Và đoán xem, ai là những người háo hức vui mừng nhất? Dĩ nhiên là các sinh viên đến từ những nước nhiệt đới chưa bao giờ thấy tuyết trong đời!

Khi đoàn tham quan lên đến đỉnh, nhiệt độ vào khoảng -2.3 độ C với tầm nhìn hạn chế. Tuy nhiên, không vì thế mà các hoạt động dự kiến trước bị ảnh hưởng. Trái lại, cái lạnh càng làm mọi người có vẻ hào hứng hơn, tham gia sôi nổi hơn các trò trượt tuyết, xe trượt trên băng, leo núi… Để lánh tạm cái lạnh giữa những trò chơi, nhiều bạn đã "cầu cứu" đến những tách cà phê ngon lành hay chocolate nóng sốt tại quán Café Cattleman’s.

"Tiết mục" đặc biệt nhất trong ngày chính là cuộc đua xe trượt trên băng ở gần rìa bãi đỗ xe của khu vui chơi. Tuy có một số sự cố va chạm nhẹ, một vài vết xây xước xuất hiện nhưng không vì thế mà cuộc đua kém sôi nổi chút nào.

Buổi dã ngoại đã khép lại cùng một bữa tối "hoành tráng" do các nhân viên trường tổ chức. Cuối cùng, hội học sinh (SRC) đã nhận sự tán dương nhiệt liệt từ bạn bè, thầy cô trên đường về vì những nỗ lực tổ chức một kì dã ngoại đáng nhớ cho các du học sinh. SRC cũng cho biết rằng các bạn sẽ còn tổ chức nhiều chuyến phiêu lưu đến nhiều địa điểm khác nhau cho học sinh của Trung tâm học tập CSU.

CSU Graduation Ceremony - May 2008

On Wednesday 7th and Friday 9th of May 2008 we celebrated our students' completion of their course with a Graduation Ceremony.

The ceremony was held at the CSU Bathurst Campus for the Study Centre’s Bachelor and Master graduands. This was the first graduation for our Melbourne CSU Study Centre. Azeem Mohammad (Course Coordinator Business Programs - Melbourne Study Centre) was proud to see the first CSU Study Centre Melbourne graduates receive their awards.

The CSU music maestro set the scene for the colourful academic procession with inspirational classical organ music.

Dr Margaret Drever (Course Coordinator Business Programs - Sydney Study Centre) and Dr Jeffrey Gosper (Course Coordinator IT Programs - Sydney Study Centre) joined the Chancellor (Lawrence Willett), Vice Chancellor (Dr Ian Goulter), Dean of the Faculty of Business (Prof John Hicks), and other CSU senior academics in a procession and took their place on the stage for the graduation ceremony.

The official welcome was read in aboriginal by Gloria Rogers (a Wiradjuri Elder) to honour the people who once dwelled upon the land where the CSU campus now resides.

As a key part of the ceremony the University conferred honorary degrees on Sister Pat Linnane, for her tireless life’s work dedicated to helping those less fortunate then ourselves. In her ‘Occasional Address’ Sister Pat reminded us all that with education comes responsibility, responsibility to the community, responsibility to those less fortunate amongst us, and also responsibility to mother earth.

Our students made up a significant proportion of the students receiving their degrees at the ceremony. Students were also joined by their families and friends who travelled from around the world to celebrate the success of years of dedication and hard work by their loved ones.

We were proud of each and every student as they crossed the stage to shake the hand of the Chancellor and Dean as they received their degree certificates.

The ceremony was completed by a group of young talented CSU musicians, named ‘Charlie Lion’, performing their own original rock song.

It was truly a memorable and wonderful occasion at the CSU Bathurst Campus.
